Amtico Floor Cleaning
Amtico is built to take daily life, which is exactly why it ends up in busy kitchens, hallways and shops. But a hard-wearing floor still gets tired. The finish dulls, dirt settles into the texture, and marks that a mop can’t shift start to show up in the light.
We clean and restore Amtico floors in homes and commercial spaces across the UK. A proper clean usually makes a bigger difference than people expect, and in most cases the floor doesn’t need replacing.
Our Process
No two floors arrive in the same state, so we start by looking at yours. The steps below are the usual order of work, adjusted to what we find.
- Assessment. We check the floor in good light, looking at wear, old layers of dressing, staining and any damage. This decides which products and how much work it needs.
- Deep clean. Specialist cleaners and machines lift the grime that normal mopping leaves behind, including dirt trapped in textured finishes and along edges. The products we use are made for vinyl and are chosen to avoid harming the surface.
- Stripping. Where the floor has built up layers of old polish or dressing, we strip it back so we’re working on a clean surface rather than sealing the dirt in.
- Dressing and polishing. We apply a protective dressing and bring the floor to the level of sheen you want, from a soft satin through to a brighter finish.
- Final check. Before we leave, we go over the whole floor for missed patches, streaks and edges, and we talk you through how to look after it.
The dressing does two jobs. It gives the floor back its finish, and it takes the wear instead of the vinyl underneath, so day-to-day cleaning gets easier.

Problems we’re usually called out for
- Dull, flat finish. Often down to a build-up of dirt and old polish rather than the vinyl itself.
- Scuffs and heel marks. Chair legs, pets and heavy foot traffic leave marks that stay visible on a worn finish.
- Staining. Spills left too long, or the wrong cleaning product used over the years.
- Grubby textured surfaces. Embossed designs hold dirt in the grain, and a standard mop just skates over it.
- A generally tired look. Patchy sheen in walkways and doorways, and a floor that no longer looks the way it did when it was fitted.

FAQs
Most of the time yes, it can be polished and restored to much improved state. Synthetic floors tend to be quite hard-wearing so will stand up to the kind of polishing that will cut through the dirt.
Whilst we may use specialist chemicals in the course of our work, we can assure you that by the time we leave all residues will be gone and your tile, stone or LVT flooring will be perfectly safe for everyone to use. We work to extremely high standards of health and safety, conducting proper risk assessments where appropriate and never putting you or anyone else in danger.
